An ingenious new website claims to be able to accurately estimate how much you should be paid by reading you Curriculum Vitae (CV).

ValueMyCV (run by job search engine Adzuna), reads the qualifications from resumes using text mining programs. These qualifications are then weighted against experience and skills to produce as estimated expected salary or wage.

Metro magazine in the United Kingdom reports that users are able to upload a CV to ValueMyCV in PDF format or through their LinkedIn profile.

The program then scans the document and weights it through proprietary algorithms. It then searches through thousands of job postings and compares their requirements with your qualifications before producing a result.

The entire process takes less than a minute.

The site offers additional information on ways to improve your current CV. One of the most important features being hints on how to present the ‘right’ skills for the job you are applying for.

Another offered feature is an ‘email my boss’ program. This allows users to send the results of their salary search to their current employer (This is what you should be paying me!).

Adzuna co-founder Andrew Hunter said on the company’s website: “As the first impression your new employer has of you, it is impossible to overstate the importance of the humble CV.

“Spelling mistakes, inconsistent work histories, and missing information are all huge red flags for potential employers, and candidates need to take extra care to show their best side to hiring managers if they hope to make it to the interview stage.”
